DIGITAL FILE PREPARATION
Resource Recycling is printed exclusively from digital materials. This offers higher-quality reproduction, makes ad changes easy and less expensive, and saves advertisers the cost of supplying film. Digital materials must be correctly prepared, using these instructions. We offer assistance to all advertisers. Contact Suzette DuCharme at (503) 233-1305 or suzette@resource-recycling.com.

We accept Macintosh OS 9 and OS X format of the following software on 100 MB Zip, CD, e-mail, or FTP by arrangement:
     QuarkXPress 4.0 to 6.5
     Adobe Illustrator 10.0-CS2
     PhotoShop 7.0-CS2
     InDesign CS2

WE DO NOT SUPPORT Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher or Corel Draw.

IMPORTANT ADOBE ACROBAT INFORMATION: Due to lack of industry standards, we cannot guarantee print quality of PDF files PDF files should be produced in Acrobat 4,0 or higher with all fonts embedded. Original artwork should be 300dpi and CMYK (not RGB) from which the PDF is made. Full page PDF ads that bleed must be 8-1/2" x 11-1/4", which includes 1/8" bleed..

GRAPHICS SPECIFICATIONS
Include all graphics files on your disk or in your e-mail:
-- High-resolution photo EPS or TIFF @ 300 dpi
-- High-resolution line art EPS or TIFF @ min. 300 dpi
-- JPEG @ 300 dpi at 100% (For JPEG files at 72 dpi, the graphic or photo must be 4.5 times larger than the final print size.)
-- CMYK or Pantone (PMS) COLORS FROM PROCESS
-- XPress Preferences file (Quark) (Needed if you've created custom frames, edited kerning or hyphenation tables.)

Include all screen and printer fonts used:
-- PostScript, TrueType or OpenType (Do not send fonts from a PC as they are unusable on a Macintosh, unless they are OpenType or specifically System X compatible
-- Do not use stylized fonts (i.e., from style menu).
-- Turn text into outline before saving Illustrator or Freehand files (eliminates need to send fonts).

Include a printed copy of your ad. Fax is OK for black-and-white ads. For color ads, send a color laser or MatchPrint. We must have the printed ad to verify what we received digitally.

Include Disk Output Report or File Output Report.

Please clearly label your disks and files. Include software used, the issue in which the ad is scheduled, your name and contact information, company, phone, fax and e-mail information.

For sending small files via e-mail, please be sure to include all the screen and printer fonts and graphics. The e-mail's subject field should indicate that it is an ad -- e.g., "ABC Co. ad." Please include contact person and phone and fax numbers. At the same time, fax a copy of the ad or send us a color proof (required for color ads). For large or four-color ad files, please send us a disk and proof via mail or courier. The large files do not transmit well via the Internet. Files may be sent to ads@resource-recycling.com.
