4 | Resource Recycling Conference 2015: The tools to boost your local program

Are you charged with managing and growing a municipal recycling system? Be sure to head to Indianapolis in late September for the industry's top MSW recycling conference, which will be loaded with sessions and workshops aimed at optimizing local programs.

The Curbside Value Partnership will be on hand offering valuable training via an ancillary event that is free to conference attendees. In addition, a conference session is set to feature some of the industry's top minds discussing on-the-ground strategies to curb contamination. And organics information hub BioCycle is offering a session focused on helping attendees lift food scrap and yard debris diversion rates.

The Container Recycling Institute (CRI) is accepting nominations for the inaugural Pat Franklin Courageous Spirit Award. The award, named after CRI's founder and longtime executive director, was "created to recognize and encourage leadership in advancing meaningful recycling of beverage containers and other consumer materials in the U.S. and Canada." The deadline for nominations is June 15. For more, click here.

Renew Bahamas has officially launched a $7 million, 125,000-square-foot MRF, the first facility of its kind in the island country. The facility, which features Machinex Group equipment, will process up to 88 tons per hour. For more, click here.

The King County (Washington) Department of Natural Resources and Parks – Solid Waste Division is seeking information from current and potential mattress recyclers who might provide mattress recycling and related services to residents, businesses and other organizations in King County. This request for information is intended to solicit current information on the status of mattress recycling in the region and help KCSWD evaluate how much mattress collection, transportation and recycling service would cost.
