5 | Learn from The Recycling Partnership at Resource Recycling Conference 2015

If you've been reading industry news lately, you've likely been hearing quite a bit about The Recycling Partnership and its growing list of municipal partners.

At Resource Recycling Conference 2015, the Virginia-based group will offer attendees a glimpse at what the effort has accomplished thus far and where it might be headed next. In a morning plenary session led by Executive Director Keefe Harrison, the ins and outs of one of the industry's most innovative funding projects will be detailed and discussed with the help of grant recipients from Richmond, Va. and Florence, Ala.

The Recycling Partnership will also be offering a free training session open to all registered attendees, providing a complete overview of how municipalities can improve local programs.

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries announced that its chief economist and director of commodities, Joe Pickard, was selected to serve on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Building Materials, Construction and Nonferrous Metals (ITAC-9), part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Northstar Recycling is selling Safety Equipment and Protective Gear Zero Waste Boxes from TerraCycle. Companies striving for zero waste purchase a box they use to mail items such as earplugs, hair nets, gloves and safety glasses to TerraCycle for recycling. For more, click here.

The Washington State Recycling Association has hired Anne Baunach as its executive director. Baunach has two decades experience with mission-based organizations, including her most recent position as director of advancement for Agros International, which focuses on alleviating rural poverty in Central America. Novelis has hired Steve Fisher to serve as the aluminum company's president and CEO. Fisher previously held the position of chief financial officer and has been serving as interim president and CEO since April. For more, click here.

Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Schupan & Sons, Inc. has promoted Bryan Huggett to director of maintenance coordination for all Schupan & Sons companies and Troy Lincomfelt to director of Michigan operations for Schupan Recycling. The family-owned business specializes in industrial and electronics recycling, metal and plastics fabrication and beverage container processing.

10 | Requests for proposals

PaintCare and the Product Stewardship Institute (PSI) are soliciting proposals from qualified parties to develop, conduct and analyze a survey of adults to determine public awareness of the architectural paint stewardship program in Oregon. View the RFP here and respond by Sept. 18.
