Fecons
(Lebanon, Ohio) FTX 140-Forestry Mulcher has the capabilities to easily transform land
from thick underbrush to useable acreage.
Powered by a 140-horsepower (2,400 revolutions
per minute), 4045H John Deere engine, the four-cylinder mulcher is intended for such
applications as land clearing, orchard clean-up and removal, prairie and wetland
restoration, agricultural preparation and land development.
The 17-feet, nine-inch-long FTX 140-FM can be used to mulch brush, branches,
slash, standing and fallen trees, root balls and stumps, as well.
When equipped with Fecons seven-foot-wide
Bull Hog 85 Forestry Mower with hydraulic tilting push bar, the machine can produce a max
cut of approximately six-feet wide. With the
BH85FM, the steel-tracked FTX 140-FM has an operating weight of 15,100 pounds.
The mulchers cab measures in at over
seven-feet high and three-feet wide, providing what amounts to nearly eight feet of
operating height. Equipped with an optional
reversing fan and a hydraulic cooler, the machine utilizes as much as 6,000 pounds per
square inch of hydraulic pressure.
With 15 inches of total ground clearance, the
FTX 140-Forestry Mulcher travels at speeds ranging from 2.4 to 4.2 miles per hour. (800) 528-3113 or www.fecon.com.
NatureMill (San
Francisco) has manufactured an indoor automatic composter that allows individuals to
produce stink-free fertilizer in the comfort of their own kitchens.
At 20-inches tall, 20-inches deep and one-foot
wide, the 17-pound NatureMill Composter is available in three versions (The Plus,
Pro and Pet-Friendly), all of which are small enough to fit into a
standard kitchen cabinet. The professional
version, which is outfitted with a foot pedal for convenient, hands-free operation, is
designed for large families, offices and small restaurants.
Powered by a standard 110- or 120-volt outlet,
the units monthly power usage (at five kilowatts) is comparable to that of a
standard night light costing the average consumer only about 50 cents per month to
operate. Furthermore, the unit is equipped
with a vacation mode, which allows the composter to automatically activate after a period
of inactivity to conserve energy, and optimize heat and mixing for curing.
Capable of accepting almost all food and paper
waste items, the machine can process up to 120 pounds of organic material per month,
utilizing a hot composting process that consists of mixing, air flow, heat (an internal
reactor temperature of 140-degrees Fahrenheit) and moisture.
In addition to the use of a carbon filter to strain all incoming air, the
risk of odor also has been eliminated by the quick working cultures consuming the waste, a
process that actually emanates a mild aroma comparable to that of sourdough, mushrooms or
damp straw.
Every other week, the composter produces one
batch of high-nitrogen compost, which is a perfect soil amendment for lawns, gardens,
trees or potted plants. According to
NatureMill officials, one batch of compost is good for 10 to 40 square feet of coverage.
Constructed with an external housing made of
recycled polyethylene, the composter has been outfitted with food-grade stainless steel
and aluminum internal components to handle the rigors of continuous heavy-duty use. Just as effective outdoors as it is indoors, the
NatureMill indoor automatic composter is available in a wide array of designer colors, as
well. (800) 613-6629 or www.naturemill.com.
Bobcat Co.
(West Fargo, North Dakota) has introduced its newest series of compact tractors, a line
that will consist of nine different models by the end of 2008.
Intended for farmers, ranchers, commercial
landscapers, groundskeepers and homeowners, the tractors are powered by a 21- to
30-horsepower diesel engine, and feature four-wheel drive for traversing rough terrain. Additionally, a hydrostatic transmission provides
for easy operation and a tight turning radius, making the tractors perfect for
applications in tight environments.
At an operating weight of 2,000 to 3,100
pounds, the Bobcat compact tractors can elevate up to 1,225 pounds at 24-inches behind
lift point. Outfitted with durable steel side
panels and a hood design that provides superior visibility to the front of the tractor,
each tractor also comes standard with a number of safety features, including a spark
arrestor muffler, a horn, brake lights, glow plug engine preheat, a toolbox, cruise
control, a standard suspension seat and fully retractable seat belt, plus a safety
interlock system that allows for neutral start and operation.
The three-cylinder compact tractors, which
include a travel speed of up to 13.1 miles per hour, can be used with a wide variety of
Bobcat implements, such as an angle blade, auger, backhoe, box blade, finish mower, seeder
and tine rake, as well as a front-end loader and attachments. (701) 241-8700 or www.bobcat.com.
Nu-Recycling
Technology, Inc.s (Naperville, Illinois) newest chute system has been
specifically engineered for effective separation of recyclables generated by mid- to
high-rise multi-family properties. The NuReTec
3000 Automatic Recycling System comes in three models (side-by-side, in-line and
right-angle), requires little floor space and can easily be installed and maintained.
Adaptable with a propertys existing
debris chute system, the NuReTec 3000 works nicely with or without a trash compactor and
equipment. Designed to perform with just one
chute and at the touch of a button, the unit allows recyclables to be kept in perfect
condition in up to three containers, ranging in size from 95 gallons to two cubic yards.
With the use of a NuReTec Master Control Panel,
which converts 110 volts of power to 24 volts of direct current to operate the units
floor control panels and electric linear actuators, residents select the container
(refuse, paper or commingled) they want to open, and the NuReTec 3000 automatically opens
the desired container. The recycling chute is
able to deposit to the right, left or rear, depending on space availability and room
layout. According to Nu-Recycling Technology
officials, the system has the capabilities to recover nearly 60 percent of the solid waste
that normally ends up landfilled via such properties.

Truck and trailer manufacturer JMH Trailers Inc. (Hamburg, Pennsylvania) has
introduced its newest steel dump trailer intended for scrap hauling and other heavy
hauling applications. At 13-feet, three-inches
high and 45-feet long, the heavy duty Monster 4 Steel Dump Trailer is being touted as the
largest street legal dump trailer in the world, with a payload capacity of 97 cubic yards.
A completely frameless trailer, the Monster 4s
round barrel body is constructed of a lighter weight, but durable, 3/16-inch thick 450
Hardox Steel, with one-quarter-inch rear sheet for extra re-enforcement. The trailer has been outfitted with seven ribs for
superior support, as well.
Equipped with two 25,000-pound rear axles and a
rear axle anti-lock braking system, the Monster 4 also has been designed with four
on the floor dumping capabilities. According
to JMH representatives, unlike traditional steel dump trailers that only keep one axle on
the ground while dumping, the four on the floor feature allows the Monster 4
to remain completely stable throughout the entire dumping process, as all four rear wheels
of the trailer remain completely on the ground. A Watson and Chalin Manufacturing
Inc. (McKinney, Texas) single-point suspension also assures the trailers long-term
load stability.
Other features of the Monster 4 Steel Dump
Trailer include: A Heavy-duty top rail clean-off; a heavy-duty front rail; a steerable
tri-axle; a barn door with skid plate or JMH Fuel Save Air Gate; and tarp options. The trailers can also be built to a customers
desired specifications. (877) 564-9597 or www.jmhtrailers.com.
Sterling Hempstead Shredder Systems, LLCs
(Forest, Virginia) latest 500 Series Shredders have been designed to handle larger
material sizes, in addition to higher volumes.
Depending on the units cutting chamber size, the 500 Series
is powered by either an electric or hydraulic motor, with a power range of 50 to 200
horsepower. The shredders heavy-duty
