2 | E-Scrap 2013: Experts offer need-to-know update on certification programs

With hundreds of North American electronics processing facilities certified to new environmental health and safety standards, increasingly, certification is a requirement to do business in electronics recycling. With new changes underway for these certification programs, we've asked leading experts to shed light on what's happening in certification and what processors need to know.

Libby Chaplin (Arcadian Solutions) and Anne Peters (Gracestone, Inc.) will present the findings of their recent research into the similarities — and differences — between certification platforms operating in the U.S., Canada and Europe. The conference will also provide updates on the two main certification systems used in the U.S.: John Lingelbach will describe R2:2013, the latest update to the R2 platform, including a discussion about the new fee system being adopted. The session will also include a similar overview by Jim Puckett from the Basel Action Network. As with R2, the e-Stewards certification platform offered by BAN is changing in response to the ever-evolving nature of electronics recycling. Come to this session to gain an understanding of how certification will change in the future.

The E-Scrap Conference will be held at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Florida, September 11-12. Early-bird registration is available at www.e-scrapconference.com or by clicking the banner below.
