1 | MA close to bottle bill update?

After nearly 16 year, advocates of expanding Massachusetts' bottle bill might be within striking distance of their goal as lawmakers in the commonwealth consider legislation that would attach a deposit to many beverage containers not covered by the original measure. 2 | PRC 2012: The best sources of industry leadership

From bale specifications, to degradability, to cross-border plastic export issues and everything in between, the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers has consistently found itself at the forefront of the major issues in plastics recycling. APR will share its progress on addressing these issues with attendees at the 2012 Plastics Recycling Conference and will be meeting immediately following the conclusion of the conference to develop strategy on the current and future challenges facing plastics recycling.

Also participating at the conference will be the American Chemistry Council, the National Association for PET Container Resources and the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries. For plastics recycling professionals concerned about the overall direction of the industry, there are no better sources of information than its leading trade associations.

Come get your facts straight from the source at the 2012 Plastics Recycling Conference, which will be held March 20-21 in Atlanta, Georgia. For more information visit www.plasticsrecycling.com or click on the banner below.

6 | Resource Recycling Conference: Clearing up packaging confusion

Packaging messaging regarding recyclability is too often unclear, lacking specificity, or just plain wrong. In addition, data collection on access to recycling is simply not consistent or coordinated. By taking a harmonized approach to communication between industry and consumers, the Labeling for Recovery Project seeks to clear things up. This timely project, branded in August as "Restart the Cycle," is getting ready to launch a national pilot, which will include a website with information and guidance for consumers and other stakeholders. Join Anne Bedarf of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition as she offers breaking updates on this project.

Don't miss the 2011 Resource Recycling Conference, to be held August 17-18, at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis, Indiana. For more information, visit www.rrconference.com or click on the banner below.
