2 | Plastics Recycling 2014: The other side of the Green Fence

No single recycling market story dominated the past year the same way as China's crackdown on the import of scrap materials. Operation Green Fence upended the traditional flow of scrap materials, highlighted significant quality control abuses among some scrap exporters, and provided a window of opportunity for domestic plastic reclaimers.

Brokers, processors and recycling professionals will share their experience at the Plastics Recycling Conference in adjusting to these challenges, as well as how their businesses have changed since the "official" end of the Chinese enforcement action at the end of November.

Don't miss Plastics Recycling 2014, to be held March 11-12, 2014, at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida. For more information, visit www.plasticsrecycling.com.

Attendees are also invited to come early and stay late for some great additional events. On the afternoon of March 10, the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) will host a technical forum. The Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers (APR) will hold its winter membership meeting on March 13. And the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Environmental Division will hold the Global Plastics Environmental Conference March 12-15. Go to www.plasticsrecycling.com for more information.

7 | Plastics Recycling 2014: Chinese delegation seeks tours

China Scrap Plastics Magazine and the China Scrap Plastics Association are bringing a delegation of recycling executives to the U.S. in March. In addition to attending Plastics Recycling 2014 in Orlando, the delegation wishes to visit and tour plastics reclamation plants and resin-trader warehouses in the central Florida region. This is an excellent business opportunity for American plastics recycling leaders. If you wish to host the delegation for a short tour of your operation, contact Leon at China Scrap Plastics Magazine and the China Scrap Plastics Association at [email protected].
