6 | Industry and supplier news


Republic Services has expanded a recycling facility in Conover, North Carolina, allowing a number of communities in the region to further develop single-stream recycling collection. The location has a capacity of 400 tons per day. For more information, click here.


Ball Corporation, a manufacturer of metal and plastic foodservice packaging, announced it has joined the Recycling Partnership, a public-private effort aimed at developing the municipal recycling infrastructure. More information is available here.


The National Waste & Recycling Association (NW&RA) recently hired Bret Biggers as statistics and standards programs director for the association. He will work to expand NW&RA's statistics program and lead the development of new safety and performance standards for waste equipment and NW&RA operations. He previously managed similar programs for the National Association of Home Builders, the Flexible Packaging Association and the Insured Retirement Institute. For more, click here.
