Sims Recycling Solutions diverted a half-million pounds of electronics from landfill through 25 collection drop-off points in eight states as part of last April's Earth Day collection drive.

HP has announced that it's opening up a 27,560-square-foot facility near Glasgow, Scotland that will enable the company's commercial customers to acquire certified legacy products and participate in equipment programs regardless of equipment type or manufacturer. HP hopes that the new facility will reduce e-waste by renewing older IT equipment and helping large businesses handle the complexities and challenges involved with the life cycle management of their older computers and computer equipment.

In the U.K., West Yorkshire-based WEEE processing company Sunersol has come under investigation by the Environment Agency, a government entity that regulates pollution, after the agency found 16 containers being exported to Hong Kong under the company’s permit that allegedly contained hazardous waste and other materials not authorized to be shipped, reports letsrecycle.com. As a result, Sunersol has had its permit withdrawn by the agency.
