NewsBitsBy Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling Keep America Beautiful and the Ad Council are launching a multi-year national ad campaign to build awareness of recycling opportunities and options. The $30 million-per-year media campaign (estimated donated value) will begin in 2013, and is currently seeking ideas and research on recycling behavior, awareness, attitudes, barriers or other relevant topics. Organizations wanting to share their findings with the campaign should contact Rob Wallace, communications vice president for KAB at rwallace@kab.org. GreenBlue has completed its 2011 Annual Report, detailing the progress of the organization's various programs last year, such as the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, Packaging Label Recovery System and Forest Products Program. Egyptian 16-year-old Azza Abdel Hamid Faiad has discovered a new use for aluminosilicate, as a catalyst that can break down plastic scrap to produce methane, propane and ethane, which can then be converted into biofuels. The young scientist's efforts have already attracted the attention of the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute. |
