PetroChem Wire logoNylon 66 repro and regrind prices increased last week, a reaction to feedstock issues at a major nylon 66 producer.

In late June, Invista declared force majeure on nylon 66 feedstock at a production facility in Texas, and that situation has continued to pressure prices higher. Nylon 66 post-industrial black repro sold at 72 cents per pound FOB East Coast, up half a cent per pound from the previous week.

Nylon 66 unfilled black and mixed colors regrind moved at 52 cents per pound FOB U.S. East Coast, also up a half cent per pound.

Since the beginning of July, nylon 66 PI black repro prices have risen 6 to 7 cents per pound, and nylon 6 PI black repro prices have risen 3 to 4 cents per pound. Similarly, regrind prices have increased, with nylon 66 flake showing a jump of 5 to 6 cents per pound since July 1 and nylon 6 regrind displaying a rise of 3 to 4 cents per pound.
