e-Stewards concludes leadership meeting

The Basel Action Network concluded its first meeting of the e-Stewards Leadership Council in Seattle this week.

In attendance were ten members of the electronics recycling community, including OEMs, collection organizations, government and non-government representatives, e-scrap processors and other stakeholders. The council provided recommendations to BAN about the direction of the e-Stewards program in the near term and created three committees focusing on the technical, promotional and membership outreach aspects of the new certification platform. Also discussed were business, policy and marketing and promotion strategies for BAN and the e-Stewards standard, the establishment of a mission for the council, e-Stewards program development, and elaborating on non-compliance policy.

The next meeting of the leadership council will be held in April via teleconference, with the tentative agenda focusing on the expansion of the leadership council and the technical committee.
