WM acquires three East Coast MRFs
WM acquires three East Coast MRFsWaste Management Recycler America, a subsidiary of Waste Management, Inc., has acquired two recycling facilities in Virginia and one in Maryland. In total, the new facilities will add 30,000 tons per month of sorting capacity to the company — including one single-stream facility — allowing it to continue to expand in the Middle Atlantic States. The acquisition included facilities in Baltimore, Maryland and Manassas, Virginia, which were formerly owned by the Canusa Hershman Company. The third facility in Springfield, Virginia was co-owned by Canusa and, interestingly, The Washington Post Co. Waste Management aims to triple it recycling capacity to 20 million tons per year by 2020. |
