Nevada passes bottle bill study measure
Nevada passes bottle bill study measureBy Editorial Staff Nevada will look into the possible implementation of a deposit redemption program for various types of beverage containers, following the passage of Assembly Bill 427 [1]. The bill, which had initially been for a nickel deposit on all types of containers that hold beer and other malt beverages, mineral water, soda water and similar carbonated soft drinks, now directs the legislature to "appoint a committee to conduct an interim study concerning the establishment of a [deposit redemption] program." The study will include "consideration of the recyclable products to be included in the program, including, without limitation, plastic, glass, aluminum or tin containers and paper or plastic grocery and shopping bags," and will be submitted to next year's legislature. |
