The deadline is fast approaching to submit a design for this year's USCC International Compost Awareness Week poster contest. The theme this year is "Compost! …Replenish the Earth for Generations." Posters must be submitted to the USCC [1] by Nov. 30, 2011.

A new online game from environmental education partner of the National Park Service, NatureBridge, helps find answers to the question: "Where should my waste go?" MyGarbology [2] can be used by teachers of any grade level to help educate students on instill the impact of human behavior when it comes to diverting waste.

Shoe and athletic apparel company PUMA has already made waves with its Clever Little Bag [3] and Re-Suede [4] shoe, and now it's hoping to do something truly novel by developing clothes that can go into the compost heap, reports The Guardian [5].

Earlier this week, a group of Alcoa employees made the trek along the North Shore riverfront in Pittsburgh to deliver a handmade Christmas tree made from 756 recycled aluminum beverage cans [6] to the Carnegie Science Center.
